Staff Spotlight: Brittany

Providing programming for students four days a week requires a lot of man power. We have team leaders, volunteers, administrative staff, and helpful interns. One of the staff that does a HUGE job is our food coordinator, Brittany Bentley. Preparing meals for all of our students each night, as well as staff and volunteers, is no simple undertaking. Unloading food trucks of supplies, helping folks who are donating meals or services, and planning it all to fill at least 75 or more tummies a night, is a job we could not live without at Tiqvah. Here are some quick thoughts from Brittany on her work as food coordinator.

  1. How did you get started with Tiqvah?

My sister was telling me about Tiqvah and I loved everything I heard. To some it up, I always say ‘God’.

  2. What do you do at Tiqvah?

    Food Coordinator

  3. What is your favorite part of the day at Tiqvah and why?

Dinnertime is my favorite part because I get to see the kids laughing and enjoying their food with friends. It brings me joy.

  4. What motivates you to keep going on tough days?

God is my peace. And to see the smiles on the kids faces or them tell me they like the food.

  5. What is one thing you wish people knew about Tiqvah?

It is more than an after school program. Tiqvah is family.

  6. What is one thing the kids would say if we asked them to tell us about you?

I am not sure, but hopefully that they like my food.

I love that even providing a meal becomes ministry and purposeful at Tiqvah. Brittany is not just a cook or coordinator, she is part of our Tiqvah family. She is a dependable face for the children who come. Dinner time has always been a special time for us as we share meals with them and chat about the day. Without a food coordinator this time would be impossible. But without a food coordinator who considers herself part of that special element, this time would be less purposeful. Thank you Brittany for loving our kids through your service!

So many folks have enjoyed dinner time with us at Tiqvah as volunteers. This week we had the Jackson 9U Gold Baseball Team, coached by Kody Gonzalez, come serve and clean up. They were incredible workers and they helped Ms. Brittany provide an awesome meal of Tacos.
