As 54 students returned to our building last week, they were met by Tiqvah and Christ Presbyterian staff and local celebrity Officer Lamar Sharpe. The staff had been working all summer training and preparing for this day, and it did not disappoint! Everyone was so happy to be together again. The children quickly fell into the routine that is so familiar to so many of them; brushing teeth, completing homework, playing kickball or jumping rope outside, learning about God and serving a friend during dinner. We are very excited to offer a few new enrichments this year; yoga and chess club, along with our old favorites and ever popular dance classes, science and art.
Our Bible lesson theme for September is “Friendship - Using our words and actions to show others we care.” Weare learning that we need to treat others the way we want to be treated. What a great reminder and a great way to start off the year!
We meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the school year and could not make it happen without the countless volunteers that give so freely of their time and love; from helping with homework, leading an enrichment, driving the kids home in our vans, helping clean up after dinner, etc, as well as the support from Canton City Schools for seeing that we get the kids that most need us, and for bussing the children to us. We thank you all!
Interested in being part of the fun? We are looking for more folks to join our awesome crew of volunteers; specifically for a full day of programming. We have kiddos who would benefit from a person to be one on one with them throughout our day. A mentor. If this interests you click below.
