Programming wrap up and start up! by Karla Dennis

School has ended and so has our regular programming. But in typical Tiqvah fashion; we went out in style! Our year finished up with our 3rd annual "Tiqvah Olympics”, a week of games and challenges.  The teams won points for successfully completing the challenges, but also for displaying the “I’m third” attitude (God  1st, others 2nd, I’m 3rd). We saw incredible team work, support and great sportsmanship behavior. A celebratory week followed that featured a dance party in the black lights, a trip to the McKinley Monument and finally a blow-out party at the roller rink . It is always so much fun to see the kids interact with one another and with the adults in this type of environment.

Now that our school year programming has ended we move on to Summer! Tiqvah will have programming two days a week this summer for the first time ever!! Our first day is this Thursday!  We kick off Thursday our in house programming where we will be working through Psalm 139:14; "How you made me is amazing and wonderful.  I praise you for that” and Ephesians 2:10; “We are God’s creation.  He created us to belong to Christ Jesus. Now we can do good works.  Long ago God prepared these works for us to do.” I can't think of a better way to spend a summer than reminding our kiddos how awesome God is and how he made them with a purpose! There are lots of ways we will be exploring this on Thursdays, including Bible story time, art projects, outside play,  and service projects. Our programming on Tuesdays will be field trip days! Our kids so love to explore our area and learn new things in the process. Not to mention the good ol' fashioned fun that happens when you visit a pool, get ice cream or visit a park. First up next Tuesday is a run and play day at Boettler Park. Other trips include swim time at both Massillon Rec Center & Tuscora Park, McKinley Monument and park, work on gymnastic skills with our friends at Perfect Balance and finally a trip to the Akron Zoo.  We are so excited to be able to offer such a fun line-up this year!  We are especially grateful for the helping hands of countless volunteers who make it all possible.

As you plan your summer fun, keep us in mind. Pray our summer is a time to pour into our students, train and develop our staff and volunteers, and to enjoy each others company! Check back here for updates and photos of all the fun!
