Building Confidence on Pillars of Support by Karissa Pluck: Site Director

From seven feet in the air beaming smiles looked down at our team leaders as our kids faced their fears . Each one of our kids got to experience the amazing sensation of being held in the air with a supportive base of three gymnast student leaders from Blue Storm Athletics at Perfect Balance Gym. Confidence and pride were tangible as our students practiced cartwheels, summersaults, and handstands across the floor. Each exercise posed a daunting challenge of being able to maneuver their bodies and face the scary sensation of trying something new in front of their peers. So many of our students typically seem to be unsure of themselves, always second guessing their own abilities and hesitant to try new things for fear of failure. Our day at Perfect Balance was a small piece in building the self-confidence we desire to grow in our students.

Through Tiqvah our students are not only supported by our outstanding staff and volunteers but God as well. Before heading to Perfect Balance we discussed the power that Jesus has to make us born again and to make us new people. This saving relationship with Christ is something that we desire for each of our kids and is one we let them come to on their own. One of the core goals in our bible lesson curriculum is for students to know they can trust God no matter what. We see the promises of how we can trust in God in Isaiah 41:10, “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God is a support for our staff, volunteers, and our students. Please be praying for us all to embrace the confidence that comes when we recognize how He holds true to His promises. As we face the challenges of a new school year please continue to pray that God would support our relationships with our families and community partners.
